Jake: Hey I’m Jake of Body by Jake and welcome to our motivational minute. Vanessa Ramirez is here with us. We’re here at Chase Field. You do lots of things – I’ve got lots of things: you do the in-game, you’re the in-game host.
Vanessa: Yes, I’m the in-game entertainment here at the games.
Jake: For these great Diamondbacks who are doing phenomenally well.
Vanessa: I like you said great thank you!
Jake: But on top of that, news 12. So you do the traffic and the morning juice. So I’m getting to a question: you’re up early in the morning?
Vanessa: Very early! 2:30 a.m.
Jake: What’s the regime like?
Vanessa: Oh my gosh! Well, let me say, with multiple jobs I’m always on the go. I need to try to fit in sleep in there somewhere. So the thing that gets me going up in the morning..I got to get up at 2:30 a.m. The alarm clock goes off, but I know that I’m gonna make a difference in someone’s life this morning.
Jake: I love that! What kind of exercise do you do in the morning? Or do you do in the afternoon?
Vanessa: Everyone’s different, yeah so being that I wake up at 2:30 in the morning there’s probably no time to get a quick exercise in. For me, for my schedule, I need to do it after work. I like to do it when I get off.
So 26 minutes of cardio, 26 minutes of weightlifting, and then some stretching at the end. Now I feel like I need to do that because I need to keep energy throughout the day, to keep going, you know, when I’m here at the games, at the ballpark.
Jake: Has fitness always been a part of your life?
Vanessa: Oh yeah! Since I was a little girl! I mean, I was in gymnastics, I played soccer, basketball, I was a cheerleader in high school. I was on the varsity team so I’ve always been active.
Jake: Who inspired you?
Vanessa: You know who I really wanted to be like growing up? Brooke Burke!
Jake: Really?
Vanessa: Yes because she did all the travel shows, and she was on a Wild Out or one of the shows, stuff like that. She just had so much energy. Energy, and she had a lot of personality and she put that a smile on her face, so I wanted to be like her.
Jake: Were you inspired by your parents, to sort of make you the person you are today?
Vanessa:
Oh for sure! I’m an only child, right, so that means I got a lot of attention from my parents and they focused on me being an independent, strong female.
They wanted to make sure, they said I had to go to college, I had to finish school. They were very strict. At the time, I wasn’t okay with it, but now that I look back on it, I think that yes!
Jake: Vanessa, you are awesome! Thank you so much!
