Jake: Hey I’m Jake of Body by Jake with your motivational minute.
Today we have a very special guest Paige Rothermel is here with us. How did you get into the healthcare industry?
Paige: You know I fell into it, but over my career, I’ve had a number of great leaders who have inspired me.
When we start to talk about things like motivation, it really is leading by example. You look at the people around you who have done so much in their life to influence others.
People don’t wake up one day and say they’re gonna be in health insurance but what it is, is the people and the family that’s been created here at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and all the employees who really make me, make us all feel so welcome.
Jake: What’s a misconception that you hear most often that you say, “Gosh, I just don’t understand why people think this you know”
Paige: I would just say that the people that work at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, we are all about helping to build better communities, and we do a lot out in the community.
Sometimes the insurance industry gets a bad rap. We work every day to try and make healthcare more affordable for everybody because we understand that when you are sick we need to be here and we need to make sure that we’re doing all the right things to keep you healthy.
That’s why we’re doing this you know, Get Fit! Don’t Quit! and really getting out and doing the small things that we can to get people motivated to do the right things every day. But I would just say that our focus is all about trying to make health care simpler and easier and more affordable.
Jake: What’s your motivation every day?
Paige: You know, as chief growth officer here at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona so I would just say bringing better health care to the people of Arizona motivates me.
I frankly believe that we spend way too much time at work to not enjoy what we do every day and so the day that I stop enjoying it will be the day I look to do something different. But every day I come to work and I just pinch myself how lucky I am to have this job to be working for such a fabulous CEO, among a senior leadership team that is so amazing.
We all care about doing what’s in the best interest of the people of Arizona.
