Jake: Hey, I’m Jake of Body by Jake with your nutrition tip of the day. I’m here with Dr. P. What is the perfect breakfast meal?
Dr. P.: Yeah, it’s called breakfast. Hey, I see between 36 and 40 folks a day in my office and I’ve got to tell you, the biggest thing is I say to them: take me through a food day. Tell me what you’re eating. “Well, I don’t get breakfast. I have some coffee when I get to the office.”
No one – no one’s eating breakfast and I think, our lives are so busy. So packed full of stuff that we have a tendency to let it go. But you’ve got to practice some self-care.
Settle down, take a moment, forecast your foods. So breakfast. Let’s talk about a perfect breakfast.
The one ingredient starch like oatmeal, oat flakes, oat puffs, shredded wheat – a one ingredient guy. Even the packet of instant oatmeal that’s unflavored, and then a fat and protein grouping with it, like a tablespoon of almond butter. That’s so easy.
It could be 12 almonds dumped in your oatmeal. It could be an egg, hard boiled, over easy, poached, any thing! And then a fruit: a banana, an apple, a cup of berries, something.
This is a great complex of macro-nutrients with fats, proteins and carbohydrates in it, and it’s balanced and I promise you – an extended energy release.
Jake: Beautiful. Dr. P., you’re the best.
