Jake: Hey, I’m Jake of Body by Jake with your nutrition tip of the day. And I’m here with the famous Dr. P and he is going to answer one magical question today. You talked a lot about forecasting.
Dr. P.: If you can forecast the weather, you can forecast your food. Oh, it’s raining, I better wear a jacket. Oh, I’m going to a theme park, I probably shouldn’t go hungry. Maybe I should take some snacks with me. Maybe I should have a meal before I go because I’ll be there a while and I don’t want to be hungry when I am there.
Forecasting for events: the theme park, baseball events, kids events…take your snacks with you. Think about a fruit and 12 almonds and how convenient that is. Make sure that you have lunch. I’ll tell you, you know what? There’s so many apps on your phone these days and you can go right to one of these delivery apps, go right to the Mediterranean section.
Honestly, you can’t mess up a kebab. Like a chicken kebab, a salmon kebab, a filet mignon kabob, and steamed vegetables and some rice. It’s easy and convenient. Food programming, ultimately, is kind of difficult. Forecasting is difficult, right? And these theme parks and the events – they’re tempting. So you go in full and nibble on the fun food.
Jake: One ingredient fun!
Dr. P.: Now the one ingredient guys – what are the one ingredient guys? So, one ingredient guys are your buddies! Potatoes, rice, yams, oatmeal, oat flakes, oat puffs, fruits, vegetables…one ingredient.
The multi-ingredient guys, like your breads, muffins, bagels…the manufactured foods that are usually in a wrapper sitting on a shelf. They’re very inflammatory. So high yeast, high mold.
Careful, careful, careful Like, obviously they’re going to sneak in, but I’ll tell you. If you want a sandwich-esque thing, you can use a flat bread, like a pita – low yeast. Burrito wrap, like a tortilla wrap – no yeast at all because it’s flat.
So forecast, think and if you want to look and feel a certain way, know that everything has a consequence.
Jake: Dr. P, you’re the best!
